Thursday 28th May

The Lord is not slow to fulfil his promise, as some understand slowness

but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish

but everyone come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Lord,

Thank you that you’ve called us, in love, to know you.

We pray for all those people who would say they are atheists, agnostics

or believe in you but find you irrelevant to their daily lives.

Thank you that you never give up,

you’re the’Hound of Heaven’ seeking out lost souls

and responding to the smallest whispered prayers.

In the long weeks of this pandemic, when fears about

jobs, business, finances, mental health and bereavement

have become a daily reality - including the fear of death itself-

send your Holy Spirit, the life -bringer, to ignite faith

in all who have glimpsed you for the first time.

Thank you that all creation shouts your name in this sunshine

and, while the physical daylight is at it’s longest,

welcome them into your everlasting light.

Amen.
