Almost exactly thirty years ago, Soul Survivor Watford moved into a new home on Greycaine Road — a slightly broken-down warehouse that became an incredible space where young people could find community, discover faith in Jesus, and encounter freedom in the Holy Spirit.
Over the last three decades, we’ve spent time, prayer, money, and effort building a house where people can belong, find belief, and become more like Jesus.
Now we are looking ahead to the long-awaited (and very exciting!) next phase of our ongoing building project — the plan to join Warehouses 5 and 7 into one house.
HOW TO GIVE
THE PLANS
FAQs
HOW WILL THE WORK BE PAID FOR?
We hope a significant initial amount will be given on the Gift Day itself and that this will allow work to begin. Following this we have the option of taking out a bank loan against the pledges that are made to allow us to access the money ahead of time and continue the building works. This will take place in increments.
WHAT ABOUT OUR CAR PARKING ?
Parking in Watford, as in many urban areas has it challenges. We have explored other locations in Watford, but the reality is many of those had less parking than we have, and also this has been our home for 30 years, and we have built up connections with our local community which we want to build on. We currently have access to at least 200 space around Greycaine Road, in addition to parking in areas beyond the industrial estate. We will ensure there continue to be accessible parking at the front of the building.
ISN’T THIS A BIT INWARD LOOKING? WOULDN’T IT BE BETTER TO GIVE THE MONEY TO THE POOR?
The church gives about 10% of its income to causes that do not directly benefit us. The vision for our buildings is for the sake of those who are not yet part of us. It will create a facility that will allow ministry to all sorts of people on every level of society to flourish. Since we sacrificed to buy warehouse 7 and 5 we have been able to serve so many more people and do so much more. This sacrifice is akin to those two; we are investing in the family home not for self-indulgence but that we might better serve others.
WILL ANY OF THE PASTORAL STAFF KNOW WHAT I’M GIVING?
It is our intention for none of the pastoral staff to know what you give. Jonny and the team will want to acknowledge any gift but would not know the amount. We feel it protects the pastoral relationship by keeping what you give confidential. This is between you and the Lord, and we don’t want anyone to feel pressurised to give. Our administrative staff will be responsible for counting and processing the gifts and keeping records.
CAN I CHANGE MY PLEDGE?
Yes. If for any reason you wish to alter your pledge (e.g. your financial situation changes) you can either increase or decrease your commitment to this project. Please just inform the church in writing.
WILL THERE BE A NURSING ROOM?
Yes, we are planning to include a suitable location for a nursing room in the plans.
HAS PLANNING PERMISSION BEEN GRANTED?
Yes, we have received planning permission for the project from Watford Council.
CAN WE REALLY ACHIEVE THIS?
Yes we can!
- We can do this because we believe the Lord is in it.
- We can do this because God loves it when his people give to bless others.
- We can do this if we are willing to take a risk and pay the cost.
