Friday 22nd May
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Loving Jesus,
We pray today for those of us who are confronted
by the sadness, ambiguity and confusion of mental illness,
especially our brothers and sisters whose symptoms
are more acute during this lock-down.
Thank you that you knew the weight of inner turmoil
and loneliness in the Garden of Gethsemane
and come alongside to comfort us when we crumble.
Please come into every anxious thought and bring
the security of knowing your strong arms
will not let us fall.
Have compassion Lord, on those of us experiencing anxiety
and hopelessness for the first time -
through grief, illness or financial worries and show
your strength in their weakness.
Please give us open hearts and lives to support and care for,
in your name, precious minds.
Amen.
