My Role

If we are to make space for more people who do not yet know Jesus and welcome them well it’s going to involve lots of us! We’d love you to play a role in this. Here are the different roles you can sign up for. Most of the teams unless otherwise specified will be a commitment of serving one Sunday per month. With some months being five weeks it works out at around thirteen times over a year. We know this will involve a significant sacrifice for you but we are also expecting it to make a massive difference to the way we can serve Jesus, each other and our wider community.

9AM & 11.30AM SERVICE TEAMS

The Kids Team

One of the greatest joys we have is serving over 150 0-11 year olds each week. This team is about helping children come to know Jesus and grow in their relationship with him. As part of the kids team you will be involved with creating a safe and fun environment for all our children. You will help serve them breakfast, do craft with them, worship with them and have the privilege of helping them come to know and love Jesus.

For those serving at the 9am you would need to arrive from 8.15am, as people will begin to turn up half an hour before the service begins, and serve until 10.45am. For those serving at the 11.30am, you would need to arrive from 11am and serve until 1.30pm.

Welcome Team

We want to welcome people who are arriving as if they have come home! As part of this team, your role is to try and make sure that every person who walks through our doors feels like this is a place where they could belong and that there is a place for them within our family.

The welcome team is based on the doors as people come in and throughout the warehouse. It involves chatting to people as they come into the church, especially those who seem new or to be on their own. Showing where to go and maybe

introducing them to one or two people. When the service begins you will also be responsible for helping people find the available seats.

For those serving at the 9am you would need to arrive from 8.15am, as people will begin to turn up half an hour before the service begins, and serve until 10.45am. For those serving at the 11.30am, you would need to arrive from 10.45am and serve until 1.30pm.

Hospitality Team

Right at the heart of Soul Survivor is food! This team is about feeding people with a smile. It’s about offering them coffee and tea but more than that, as with the Welcome Team it’s about making sure they feel like they have just come home.

In practice this team involves helping prepare the breakfasts and refreshments for the week and serving them. And helping tidy up afterwards. It also involves keeping an eye out for anyone who seems to be new and taking an interest in each person.

For those serving at the 9am you would need to arrive from 8.15am, as people will begin to turn up half an hour before the service begins, and serve until 11am. For those serving at the 11.30am, you would need to arrive from 10.45am and serve until 1.30pm.

Traffic Team

This is much more than helping people find a car parking spot(!) The traffic team are the first faces that people will see when they arrive at church so you will play a vital role in creating a great first impression. Your role as part of the traffic team will be to be warm and welcoming as you, and the rest of the team, direct people to the available car parking spaces around Greycaine Road. We have heard stories of people who were blown away by the welcome they received on the street, before they even walked into the building.

For those serving at the 9am you would need to arrive from 8.15am, as people will begin to turn up half an hour before the service begins, and serve until 9.45am. For those serving at the 11.30am, you would need to arrive from 10.45am and serve until 12.15pm.

Bookshop Team

This is about making sure people have the best resources available to help them follow Jesus! As part of this team you will be working on the tills and be responsible for arranging the bookshop.

For those serving at the 9am you would need to arrive from 8.40am and serve until 11am. For those serving at the 11.30am, you would need to arrive from 11am and serve until 1.30pm.

Visuals Team

The visuals team is a key part of the worship team. It involves overseeing the visuals on the screens enabling people to worship and engage with God. There is an audition process for this team and should you sign up one of the worship team will be in touch with you ASAP.

Should you serve on this team you will need to arrive at 7.30am and serve until the end of the 11.30am service.

Media Team

The media team is a new team we’re developing to record our Sunday services to create video and visual content for our website and online platforms. We need people to operate cameras and be taking photographs during the services. If you have editing experience we’d also love to hear from you. We can also train you to operate a camera if you have the passion but not yet the skill! As this is a new team we aren’t clear on timings yet, but it is likely you will need to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the service. We will let you know more details if you’re interested.

Bacon Sandwich Team

Ultimate Bacon Sandwich Sunday is a particular highlight in the life of our church family. We love to gather together and catch up while eating some top-quality food. As part of this team you will be involved in cooking and serving our church bacon sandwiches. The plan is to run this once per month between the services providing an opportunity for people to hang out with friends who may be attending a different service.

For this team you will need to arrive at 9.45am and will finish serving at 11.45am.

4.30 & 7PM SERVICE TEAMS

6.15 Hosting Table

Are you great with new people? Do you love helping people get to know each other? This may be the team for you! Every week after our 4.30pm service we eat together at our 6.15 Café. This is a great place for newcomers to come along and build friendships. To help this happen, the Hosting Table is a specific table where new people can go with the intention of meeting others. As part of this team, your role is to welcome people into our home and introduce them to others. Your meal is free, and you’ll need to come to the Hosting table straight after the 4.30 service finishes and will finish serving once the café has ended just after 7pm.

4.30pm Welcome & Hospitality

Right at the heart of who we are is the desire to welcome new people. We long for people to find Soul Survivor to be a place where they can belong. As part of the 4.30 Hospitality Team, your role is to create a welcoming environment for those who come into our family home. Being a part of this team includes welcoming people on the doors, serving tea and coffee and talking to those who are new to the church. After the service every week we also serve food at our 6.15 café which is a great place for people to build friendships with those in our church over a meal. The hospitality team takes the food orders, serves the food and clears up after the café has finished.

For this team you will need to arrive at 3:45pm and will finish serving roughly at 7:30pm.

7pm Welcome & Hospitality

As part of the 7pm Hospitality Team, your role is to create a welcoming environment for those who come into our family home. We want everyone to be able to feel comfortable and that they could call Soul Survivor Watford their home.
