What is CAP?

Christians against poverty is an award winning national debt counseling charity that offers a free comprehensive service to people who find themselves in unmanageable debt. CAP’s aim is to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counseling, advice, and practical help. CAP’s unique hands-on approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts.

CAP Money Course

We run Money Courses in association with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) that are available for members of the church as well as anyone from the local community. The course helps you to take control of your money and get on top of your finances. In three sessions you will construct your own budget and learn how to stick to it. You won’t have to share personal information about your finances unless you want to.

STORIES

Job clubs

Community:
We know how hard it can be to stay motivated when you are searching for work, especially when you're on your own. Job club is a relaxed place where you'll meet other people in similar situations, who understand what you are going through, and will support and encourage you along the way.

Courses:
We will help to equip you with practical tools which will talk you through each step of the job hunting process; from identifying your strengths and skills, right through to writing a great CV and learning how to succeed in an interview.

Coaching:
You will have the opportunity to have one-to-one informal support from a dedicated coach. Our coaches will spend time helping you to set goals, to identify and tackle any areas you are struggling with;  including how to set up an email and attach a document; how to navigate Universal Job Match; help you contact other agencies who can help with benefit queries etc.

Connecting:
We will help you connect with volunteer opportunities, with local employers and local agencies who can offer opportunities and support. We will also give you free access to computers with internet access.

One of our job club friends was offered an evening job and asked if she could continue to come to the job club as she had made good friends here - of course the answer was yes!  We can all help each other!

If you have further questions, please feel free to drop in one Monday morning for a coffee and chat.
